Project Overview

As both Event Coordinator and Vice President of the Turkish Student Association at Michigan State University, I helped organize events and create opportunities for students to come together and experience Turkish culture on campus.

I worked closely with the executive board and other student organizations to plan events, support the organization, and connect with students from different backgrounds. This experience helped me improve my leadership, teamwork, communication, and event planning skills.

My Role

As Vice President, I worked closely with the executive board to support the organization, plan activities, and help make decisions throughout the year. As Event Coordinator, I focused on planning and organizing events that brought students together and helped share Turkish culture with the MSU community.

Having both roles gave me experience in leadership, teamwork, organization, and event planning, while also giving me the opportunity to help build a stronger community on campus.

Key Contributions

  • Worked with the executive board to plan activities and support the organization

  • Planned and organized cultural, social, and networking events for students

  • Helped create a welcoming environment where students could meet and connect

  • Collaborated with other student organizations, including the Balkan Student Association, to organize events together

  • Helped introduce and celebrate Turkish culture within the MSU community

  • Supported events that brought together students from different cultures and backgrounds

Impact

This experience gave me the opportunity to combine leadership, culture, and community while being involved in student life at MSU. Through organizing events and working with other student organizations, I helped create opportunities for students to meet, connect, and experience different cultures.

It also helped me improve my communication, teamwork, organization, and leadership skills while working with a team and managing different responsibilities.

Reflection

Being both Vice President and Event Coordinator was a valuable part of my time at MSU. It taught me how to work with different people, take responsibility, and turn ideas into events that students could enjoy.

Most importantly, I learned how bringing people together through culture can help create a stronger and more welcoming community on campus.
